Weekend with Kristin: Things to Do in Bakersfield This Weekend

Activities Kristin Zaben September 4, 2026

Okay Bakersfield, if you say there’s nothing to do here this weekend, I’m calling you out. 😂

We’ve got First Friday, live music, comedy, theater, farmers markets, outdoor movies, cookie decorating, family activities and even an audiobook walking group.

Basically, there is zero excuse to sit at home scrolling Netflix for 45 minutes trying to decide what to watch.

Here’s what’s happening around Bakersfield this weekend!

🎨 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

🎨 First Friday at Bakersfield Museum of Art | 11 AM–8 PM

Kick off the weekend with FREE admission to the Bakersfield Museum of Art and extended hours for Downtown Bakersfield’s First Friday.

Apparently we're getting two opportunities to relive our emo era this weekend. 😂

🤠 Western Cookie Class at Tastries Bakery | 10 AM

Kids and adults can decorate Western-themed cookies. $18 with supplies included.

❤️ Kristin's Pick of the Weekend

I'm giving this one to Movies in the Park: Moana 2.

It's free, it's easy, it's family-friendly, and there's something about throwing down a blanket, bringing snacks and watching a movie outside that just feels like a good end-of-summer night.

And don't totally dismiss Emo Night at Legends! I’ve done this with my girlfriends before and we had an absolute blast. You don’t even have to consider yourself an emo-music person to have fun—although knowing a few of those throwback songs definitely helps.

It’s one of those nights where you go thinking, “This could be fun…” and somehow end up singing at the top of your lungs like you’re 17 again. 😂

There You Have It, Bakersfield!

Another weekend with WAY more happening than most people realize.

And that's exactly why I love putting these together. Real estate isn't just about knowing the houses—it's about knowing the community you're helping people call home.

Save this list, send it to the friend who's always asking “What are we doing this weekend?” and go support something local. ❤️
